Shy violet – how beautiful.
Violets have only just started to flower and I couldn’t resist this one flowering in the walls of a deserted black house.
What a perfect nook this violet has found, or perhaps it is a cranny…
I’m sure there is a very precise Gaelic term for the gap between stones in a blackhouse wall.
I am sure there is – and surprised that it is not on the tip of your tongue…
Not up to speed on technical vernacular architectural terms, but I am thinking about learning the plant names.
Common Dog Violet – sail-chuach choitcheann, a bit of a mouthful so perhaps I’ll stick to Latin.
